PROPER CARE

Properly operating spark plugs are critical to optimum engine performance. Spark plugs ignite about 1,000 times per minute (if the engine runs at 2,000 rpm) and must be kept clean and properly gapped. Without complete combustion, your engine will produce less power but more pollution. You should remove and inspect the spark plugs annually. Aside from determining the spark plugs are not damaged, they can also be "read" to determine the engine's condition and detect problems early.
